Then one of your parents turns on the same computer, for example, to check Facebook or email. Unfortunately, there is a high chance that your mother or father will find out about the gift without even looking at the history of the browser, all thanks to targeted advertising.

However, if you make purchases in incognito mode, the browser will not remember the history and will not spoil the surprise. In addition, in incognito mode, you can watch favorite videos, without the risk of leaving traces behind.

What else can the incognito mode do?

In the incognito mode, browsers do not keep your Login data and other web form data, it also does not save passwords. This means that you can log in to your Facebook account on someone else’s computer, and after you close the browser (or even the tab), you are automatically logged out. Your login information will not be entered automatically when someone else opens this page next time. Therefore, there is no risk that another person will send a message on your behalf.

Moreover, even if the option of saving data entered into web forms (such as name, address, telephone number) is enabled in the browser, the incognito mode window does not save this information.

If you download files when in the incognito mode, it will not be shown in the browser history. However, all downloaded files will be available to other people who use the same computer (if you forgot to delete these files). Therefore, it is better to be careful.

With the help of several tabs in incognito mode, you can log in to multiple user accounts on the same site at the same time.

If you want to use any extension in incognito mode, click the menu button (the icon in the form of three lines or dots in the upper right corner of the browser), select Additional Tools → Extensions and check the box – Enable use in incognito mode for this extension.

If any spyware (for example, keyloggers) are installed on your computer, it can track your activity. Therefore, it is better to refrain from any illegal actions.

The incognito mode does not protect against data theft which is transmitted via the Internet. For example, using incognito mode for mobile banking or shopping does not provide more security than using a normal browser. Incognito mode does not completely prevent advertisers from tracking your activities. Cookies will be removed at the end of the session, but in addition to cookies, modern targeted advertising systems use many other trackers.
